Checklist 11
Hotel Guests
Bringing someone back? Read this. 2 a.m., the lobby, a new friend and a receptionist asking for ID. Every hotel plays this differently.

-
The rules
Same island. Different house rules.
Some hotels welcome visitors, some restrict them, some set hours. Your booking app won't tell you.
Ask before you book, not at 2 a.m.
-
The desk
No ID, no elevator.
Visitors may have to leave photo ID at reception. It's security, not suspicion, and it's not up for debate.
She knows the drill. You should too.
-
The joiner fee
The visitor fee exists.
Some hotels charge for an extra overnight guest, many in Patong don't. Ask the amount before, not at checkout.

Before booking
One message saves a scene.
Message the hotel: visitors allowed? ID needed? Any fee? Thirty seconds now, no lobby drama later.

At the desk
Be nice to the night shift.
Reception is following the hotel's rules, not judging your night. Arguing at 2 a.m. never wins.
A smile gets you further than a speech
